This publication has been developed to aid users in applying the provisions of
Chapter 19 on Concrete of the 2003 International Building Code® (IBC®).
The publication is in three parts. Part 1 is an extended commentary on the
provisions of the 2003 IBC Chapter 19. The provisions are explained, with
illustrations wherever appropriate, and guidance to their usage is given,
whenever warranted. Part 2 discusses the significant changes from ACI 318-99
Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete, the referenced standard
in the 2000 IBC Chapter 19, to ACI 318-02, the referenced standard in the
2003 IBC Chapter 19. Part 3 consists of seven design examples that should be
particularly helpful to the user of this publication.
