Registration Procedure

Registering for a Contractor/Trades examination is quick and easy, and can be done entirely online if you choose. Quick info, including the examination information bulletin and registration links, can be found in the exam listings below for each of the exams.

Please note that the registration procedure differs slightly for those candidates who intend to be licensed in a jurisdiction that authorizes candidates to test. If you are not sure whether your jurisdiction pre-authorizes candidates, please refer to the applicable bulletin, or contact your jurisdiction. 

For non-pre-authorization jurisdictions: If you would like to register for a computer-based or paper/pencil examination, find the exam you are interested in and follow these steps:

1. Click the title of the exam for which you wish to register
2. Review the details of the exam, including the examination information bulletin (found at the Bulletin link in the exam listing)
• If you choose to take the exam via computer-based testing, click on the Pearson VUE link in the exam listing, which will take you to the Pearson VUE website to schedule your exam
• If you choose to take the exam via paper-and-pencil testing, continue following the steps below
3. Select the date and location for your exam
4. Select Add to Cart
5. Select OK and proceed to Cart to process payment and checkout for your exam

For pre-authorization jurisdictions: If you would like to register for a computer-based or paper/pencil examination, find the exam you are interested in and follow these steps:

1. Click the title of the exam for which you wish to register
2. Review the details of the exam, including the examination information bulletin (found at the Bulletin link in the exam listing) – the bulletin includes information on how to get authorized to test. Once you are authorized:
• If you choose to take the exam via computer-based testing, call Pearson VUE at   1-877-234-6082  1-877-234-6082   1-877-234-6082 . to schedule your exam
• If you choose to take the exam via paper-and-pencil testing, continue following the steps below
3. Select the date and location for your exam
4. Select Add to Cart
5. Select OK and proceed to Cart to process payment and checkout for your exam

 Please note that not all tests are available via the paper-and-pencil testing method.
