    Now Online: ICC Bulletin Board Archives

    Greetings Community Participants! 

    Since we launched our new website, we’ve been working on archiving our previous bulletin board.     Engineers recommend Bay Area retrofit housing for quakes

    San Francisco Chronicle (10/12) - Earthquake engineers are encouraging Bay Area cities to consider retrofitting housing to meet earthquake-safe standards. "We have been retrofitting public infrastructure, but in the Bay Area and California, we have done a miserable job of retrofitting where we live," said Peter Yanev, a seismic engineer. Wood-frame structures and concrete structures with insufficient steel reinforcement are two types of structures at risk for earthquake damage. Read More

Welcome to the Residential Occupancies Community of Interest!  Our Community exists as a meeting place for ICC members who share a common interest in:

  • Tips and techniques for researching information about the Residential Occupancy codes and applying real world experiences to enforcing or adhering to the new codes
  • Sharing with others information about situations that required professional assistance to interpret the codes and how these issues were engineered and eventually implemented.\
  • Information on the new Residential Occupancy codes and related topics that inspectors and contractors are encountering out in the field
