Call for Committees
Ad Hoc Committee on Wall Bracing - The
application deadline is May 5, 2006
In response to concerns raised about the wall bracing provisions
in the International Residential Code (IRC), the ICC Board
established an Ad Hoc Committee on Wall Bracing. Among the
concerns noted were: the lack of understanding of the provisions;
the complexity of the provisions; the need for more prescriptive
methods; and the need for provisions which are easy to apply
and comprehend. The scope of this ad hoc committee is to review
the provisions of the IRC in order to determine where revisions
are necessary and to propose changes. Included is the review
of code changes submitted to the IRC that are related to the
scope of this committee and to establish position statements/submit
public comments as determined applicable by the ad hoc committee.
Travel required. ICC Governmental Member Representatives
are authorized to travel at ICC's expense when participating
at ad hoc committee meetings. All others are responsible for
funding their participation on this ad hoc committee. Term:
completion of ad hoc activities - anticipated to extend through
the 2007/2008 ICC Code Development Cycle (September/2008).
Abbreviation of ICC Committee to be indicated on Part 1 of
the application: AHC-WB. Staff: Mike Pfeiffer
