When it comes to Plumbing, Mechanical and Fuel Gas (PMG) Codes, the International Code Council has all the expertise you need. Whether you’re using and enforcing the International Codes or the Uniform Codes, the Code Council PMG Group has the knowledge and resources to train you and your staff.
In just the last few months, Code Council staff has been invited to teach PMG and building code classes at the Orange Empire Chapter of the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO). Code Council PMG and Senior Technical Staff provided an overview of the provisions of the California Mechanical Code, based on the Uniform Mechanical Code; conducted a class on the California Plumbing Code, based on the Uniform Plumbing Code; and held a special session for the IAPMO chapter on the new California Building Code and duct penetrations into corridors, based on the International Building Code.
To further assist California’s code users in the transition to updated plumbing and mechanical codes, Code Council staff has authored two books, Principal Changes to the California Plumbing Code, 2007 Edition and Principal Changes to the California Mechanical Code, 2007 Edition. Since its publication, the Code Council sold nearly 300 copies of the plumbing book. The mechanical book is now being released and can be purchased at ICC’s product store.
The Code Council also recently taught UPC-based courses to the Maine Building Officials and Inspectors Association on topics including water supply and distribution, special requirements for island fixtures and vertical wet venting. Another series of courses taught at a Texas IAPMO chapter focused on transitioning from the UPC to the IPC and was attended by tradesmen across the entire Texas Panhandle.
“Our mission is to support this industry regardless of the code adopted and we have the on-staff expertise to do it right. We are receiving requests from many jurisdictions, chapters and associations across the country”, says the Code Council’s Executive Director - PMG, Jay Peters.
Regardless of the PMG codes in use in your jurisdiction, Code Council staff is ready to assist you. Our focus is on providing the best possible service to enhance building safety in your community.
