Staff Code Opinions
Staff Code Opinions on the ICC International Codes
are an exclusive benefit of ICC Membership.
Staff code opinions will be issued by ICC technical staff
and do not represent the official position of the International
Code Council. The final authority of code opinions is the
responsibility of the code official.
Staff code opinions may be either verbal or written.
When requesting a staff code opinion you must include your
individual ICC membership number or the ICC membership number
for your company.
Verbal Staff Code Opinions.
When requesting a verbal staff code opinion, you will be required
to provide your individual ICC membership number or the ICC
membership number for your company. Verbal staff code opinions
are available from the ICC technical staff by calling 1-888-ICC-SAFE
(1-888-422-7233) between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
CST.
Online Staff Code Opinions.
ICC members may also request an online
staff code opinion. When requesting an online staff code
opinion, the ICC member must log in using their individual
ICC membership number or the ICC membership number for your
company.
Written Staff Code Opinions.
Request for a written staff code opinion must be submitted
to ICC in writing. When requesting a written staff code opinion,
you must include the following:
- ICC Membership Number of Individual or Company requesting
a staff code opinion
- Member Name and Title
- Company Name; or Jurisdiction Affiliation (as applicable)
- Mailing Address
- Telephone Number
- Specific ICC International Code (i.e. Building Code, Fire
Code, etc.)
- Code Publication Year
- Applicable Code Section
- Question for Staff Code Opinion
