The Northern Nevada ICC (NNICC) Chapter recently established
a fund for its president, Gabe Brillante, who was in an accident
in September and shattered several vertebrae, leaving him
hospitalized and unable to work for an extended period of
time. Gabe recently returned to work part time and continues
as chapter president.
His dedication to the chapter has been unwavering, even
from his hospital bed. Any code organization near Reno, Nevada,
has probably been contacted by Gabe as he is a tireless crusader
for the building code process and a prolific correspondent.
If you have been to any recent annual business meetings, you
probably swapped a pin with Gabe.
The chapter is asking anyone who would like to contribute
to this fund to send donations to: Sparks City Employee Federal
Credit Union, Gabe Brillante Fund, P.O. Box 387, Sparks, NV
89432.

Strategic Meeting Plans OBOA Chapter's
Future
Planning for the future of the organization, the Ohio
Building Officials Association (OBOA) held a strategic
planning meeting on Dec. 6-7, 2005. Michael J. Leiblein, Ph.D.,
Professor at the Fisher Business College at Ohio State University,
served as facilitator and OBOA Past President Rick Schriewer
was the conference coordinator. Dr. Leiblein introduced tools
to help keep discussions focused on issues OBOA may be facing,
and then divided the room into smaller groups so the issues
could be debated. Ultimately, a mission statement was created
and modified. Board members decided to continue refining ideas
and focus on achieving one or two goals per year. Specifically,
six questions were raised that the OBOA board will be working
toward solving in the next several years.
