New York City joined the ranks of states and municipalities that have adopted the Energy Rating Index, a new compliance path introduced with the 2015 version of the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). The voluntary ERI option relies on the Home Energy Rating System, which assesses projected energy use in homes and offers a score that conveys energy efficiency. Section R 406 of the 2016 New York City Energy Conservation Construction Code will go into effect Oct. 3.
