Shapiro elected Board President; Zubia, Lynn named officers

Steven I. Shapiro, Director of Codes Compliance for the city of Hampton,
Virginia, was elected President of the International Code Council Board of
Directors during 2007 Annual Business Meeting. A 25-year veteran of the
code enforcement industry, Shapiro oversees new construction, property maintenance
and zoning in Hampton, which has a population of 146,000. Shapiro
previously served as Vice President of the ICC Board. As a Certified Building
Official, he has served on numerous committees during his association with the
Code Council.
Adolf A. Zubia, Fire Chief for the City of Las Cruces, New Mexico, was elected
Vice President of the ICC Board. Zubia currently serves as president of the
Fire and Life Safety Section of the International Association of Fire Chiefs and
serves on the organization's Professional Development Committee. He was
instrumental in the creation and development of the New Mexico Fire Marshals
Association. Zubia previously served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Code Council
Board.
Ronald L. Lynn, Building Official and Director of Development Services for
Clark County, Nevada, was elected Secretary/Treasurer of the
Board. Lynn has been employed by Clark County for 23 years in code
enforcement, administration and management. He is chairman of
the Nevada Organization of Building Officials and Nevada
Earthquake Safety Council. Lynn previously served as a Director on
the ICC Board.
William L. Dupler, Barbara L. Koffron and Doug Murdock were reelected
as Directors to three-year terms on the Board. Dupler is
Director of Building Inspections for Chesterfield County, Virginia.
Koffron is Fire Marshal of the Phoenix, Arizona, Fire Department.
Murdock is Director of Building Inspections for the City of
Gainesville, Florida.
Steve Jones, Construction Official for the borough of Florham
Park and Milburn Township, New Jersey, was elected to a three-year
term on the Board. Jeff Whitney, Chief Building Official for Grand
County, Utah, was also elected as a Director to a three-year term.
