Rosario Marin speaks
California State and Consumer Services Agency Secretary and California Building Standards Commission Chair Rosario Marin speaks at the opening of the code development hearings. Marin spoke about California's success in bringing different constituencies and organizations together to create the new California Codes—doing three years' work in just one year—as well as California's work in creating new green building standards, a green industry, and products and services in California.
"On behalf of the Governor [Arnold Schwarzenegger], I want to tell you how lucky we are to have you, the International Code Council, here in California, and how much we appreciate what you do. It has been said time and again that what you do matters, and because it matters, because it impacts the lives of people that you are there to protect through the work that you do, I wanted to come personally and thank you for that work."
