| Participants take an afternoon break during the 2008 Wildland Urban Interface Institute. More than 40 attendees learned how to integrate codes and standards with Community Wildfire Protection Plans and web-based planning efforts. |
The Institute, held during the 2008 Codes Forum in Palm Springs, Cal., was the first in a series of Wildland Urban Interface Institutes to be held across the country. Experts from the International Code Council will discuss defensible space around structures, developing a Wildland Urban Interface plan and demonstrate the use of GIS systems for planning purposes. The institute is for fire and building officials, fire and building inspectors, elected officials, planners, developers, realtors and insurance agents.
