New officers, directors elected to ICC
Board
New officers and directors were elected to the ICC Board
of Directors during the Annual Business Meeting of this year's
conference.
Frank
Hodge, Director of Building and Fire Codes for Hilton
Head Island, South Carolina, was appointed President of the
ICC Board. Frank, a Master Code Professional and Certified
Building Official, was first elected to the ICC Board in 1999
and has served as the chief building official for the Town
of Hilton Head Island since its incorporation in 1984.
Henry
Green, Executive Director of the Bureau of Construction
Codes for the Michigan Department of Consumer and Industry
Services, was named Vice President of the ICC Board. Henry
has served as Chairman of the National Institute of Building
Sciences (NIBS) Board of Directors and as a member of several
governmental committees, including the Michigan delegate to
the National Conference of States on Building Codes and Standards
and the HUD Mobile Home Advisory Council.
Wally
Bailey, Director of Development and Construction for the
City of Fort Smith, Arkansas, was appointed Secretary/Treasurer
of the ICC Board. A Certified Building Official, Wally began
his career with the City of Fort Smith in 1978, became involved
in code enforcement and building codes in 1981, and previously
held the titles of Housing Rehabilitation Coordinator and
Building Official.
  Ed
Berkel, Fire Marshal for the Mehlville, Missouri, Fire
Protection District, Bill Dupler, Building Official
for Chesterfield County, Virginia, and Adolf Zubia,
Fire Chief with the City of Las Cruces, New Mexico, were all
reelected to three-year terms on the ICC Board. Ed supervises
fire inspectors and is responsible for plan review and building
inspections for the Mehlville District, which serves 200,000
residents in an area of 52 square miles. Bill directs and
supervises the Chesterfield County Building Inspection Department
and coordinates enforcement of the statewide building code.
With 18-years experience in the fire service, Adolph is responsible
for the management and administration of the Las Cruces fire
and emergency services efforts.
 Ron
Lynn, Building Official for Clark County, Nevada, and
Kevin Scott, Fire Marshal and Battalion Chief for the
Kern County, California, Fire Department, were elected to
three-year terms on the ICC Board. Ron has been instrumental
in the development of the Las Vegas area, reviewing, permitting
and approving dozens of major construction projects. A 28-year
veteran of the fire service, Kevin manages and directs public
education efforts, plan reviews and inspections for the 8,000-plus
square-miles of Kern County and eight incorporated cities.
 John
Darnall, Assistant Director of the Development Services
Department for the City of Tumwater, Washington, and John
LaTorra, Building and Inspection Manager for Redwood City,
California, were elected to one-year terms on the ICC Board.
A 19-year veteran of the building and fire safety industry,
Mr. Darnall has a wide range of responsibilities including
performing preliminary analyses of development proposals,
issuing building and other permits, conducting inspections
of new and remodeled construction and assessing the engineering
of infrastructure improvements. Mr. LaTorra has 30 years of
experience in the building industry and has served 19 years
as a building official. He is responsible for coordinating
the permitting, inspection, plan reviews and code enforcement
for Redwood City.
