Recognizing the importance of certification in acquiring
employment and career advancement, the U.S Department of Veterans
Affairs (VA) has a program to assist military personnel who
transition into civilian occupations by recognizing their
skills and training. As part of this program, veterans who
take select ICC Professional Certification Examinations are
eligible for reimbursement of test fees. The benefit, available
through the VA under the Montgomery G.I. Bill, repays qualified
veterans for the cost of the ICC exams. Education benefits
cover the cost of the exam, whether the recipient passes or
fails. Applicants can request reimbursement for multiple certifications.
ICC Professional Certification is a significant professional
accomplishment, demonstrating a proficiency in a specific
area of code enforcement. Some states, and many local governments,
require ICC Professional Certification as a criterion for
employment. ICC exams test a variety of construction-related
topics for inspectors, examiners and other code officials,
covering Accessibility, Energy, Electrical, Fire, Mechanical,
Plumbing, Property Maintenance, Residential and Structural
Masonry Inspections.
