Code Council Visits FLBOA Conference
Code Council Board member Ron Piester and Director of State and Local Government Relations Dorothy Harris attended the Finger Lakes Building Official Association (FLBOA) Educational Conference held March 19-22 in Rochester, New York.
A 2007 Service Award went to Scott Copp, New York State Building Officials Conference Past President and member of FLBOA since 1986. Loren and Mary Pelton were also awarded a 2007 Service Award for their hard work in planning the conference meals and running the hospitality room. The third service award went to Steve Grandusky, Past President of Monroe County Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association.
While there, Piester and Harris swore in Southern Tier Building Officials Association President Mark Dedrick, who was in attendance at the conference.

Second Annual Lobby Day Focuses on Code Enforcement
The New York State Building Officials Conference (NYSBOC) and the New York State Fire Marshals and Inspectors Association celebrated its second annual Lobby Day for the New York State Building Officials during Building Safety Week 2007. Code Council staff visited with several members of the New York State Senate and Assembly to discuss the importance of proper code enforcement and building safety, as well as legislation that would provide financial resources to local governments for code enforcement.

Code Council Board member Ron Piester (fifth from right) met with representatives of ICC chapters that comprise the New York State Codes Coalition to discuss New York's plans to update its building, fire prevention and energy codes by incorporating provisions of the 2003 International Codes, as well as plans for future code updates.
The Central New York State Building Officials Conference (NYSBOC) Chapter held its second Annual Central Chapter Educational Conference in Liverpool, New York, with approximately 180 participants. Code Council CEO Rick Weiland (at podium) thanked President Neal Smith, Bernard English, Tim O'Neill, Gail Swistak, Cindy Heid, Edward Cusato, George Keeler, Andy Worden, Terry Gerenski, Amy Bertieni, and Jim Condon for the invitation to participate. Northern Adirondack Conference a Success
The Northern Adirondack Code Enforcement Officials Association held its 12th Annual Educational Conference March 5–8 in Lake Placid, New York. The conference was a great success with over 250 participants. The Code Council thanks President James Morganson, 1st VP Douglas Barney, 2nd VP Donald Lee, Secretary/Treasurer Sharon (Kent) Wheeler and Education Committee Chairman Keith Matott for inviting the Council to participate.
