Staff Offer Guidance
through New Laws

Focusing on the use of CPVC in California under the new 2007 California Plumbing Code that goes into effect in 2008, ICC’s Director of Plumbing Programs Lee Clifton attended the San Diego Chapter’s Plumbing and Mechanical Subcommittee on August 1 to help ICC members to become familiar with the new code requirements.
Other topics included the new California Swimming Pool Safety Act that requires that anti-entrapment covers be installed at all pool and spa drains when a building permit is issued for a single-family dwelling remodel.

Golden State Plans Progressive Green Code

The state of California announced plans for its first green building code, and invited the Code Council to join in the effort, at the state's Green Building Focus Group Kick-Off Meeting. The progressive residential and commercial green code will use the best practices and most restrictive requirements of many existing green building programs, including the Code Council's joint green building standard with the National Association of Home Builders, as its baseline criteria.

Green Scene
The International Code Council advocates for green building in the legislative, regulatory and codes arenas. It promotes environmental features of the International Codes and how these codes support green building. The following news links may take you outside ICC's website.
