As part of an organizational change, ICC CEO Rick Weiland
announced that the Chapter Relations Department will now be
part of the Government Relations Division. The move is in
step with ICC’s goals to provide more benefits and enhanced
services to its members and chapters.
"We are working to help our chapters and members in
ways we never have before," states Weiland "This
reorganization will enhance operations, provide better service
to chapter members and enable them to become more involved
in the organization."
Scott
In conjunction with the move, Laura Scott has been promoted
from Manager to Vice President of Chapter Relations. "Laura
and her department have a great reputation with chapter leaders
and members," Yerkes remarks. "We look for them
to expand their roles with Chapters as they become more involved
in the organization."
Dedicated to providing assistance to Council members in their
efforts to adopt the International Codes (I-Codes) in the
United States and around the world, Government Relations staff
assisted with more than 2,700 I-Code adoptions in 2005 alone.
Increased responsibilities and challenges for Government Relations
will broaden its scope and assist staff in meeting these new
responsibilities to help Government Relations continue to
evolve.
Chapter Relations staff are looking forward to the enhanced
opportunities this restructuring will provide. "We've
been working alongside Government Relations staff from the
beginning," says Scott. "Chapters are a huge resource
for our organization. There are plenty of chapter leaders
who want to be even more supportive of the Code Council, and
this reorganization will provide the resources they need."
Chapter staff will continue to operate from their current
office locations and can be reached at the same extensions
as listed below. The Chapter web page has been moved to the
Government Relations tab.
