After fighting cancer for nearly a year, Brent Snyder passed
away on November 10. Snyder was a 1961 graduate of Columbus
High School and attended Western Nevada College, Utah Valley
State and Brigham Young University. He was an Army veteran
having served in the 1st Infantry Division in 1961-1962. He
worked construction and then served as Building Official for
the cities of Reno, Nevada; Provo, Utah; Rangely, Colorado;
West Valley City, Utah and Pacifica, California. He was a
member of the International Conference of Building Officials
(ICBO) and served on its Board of Directors, ending his years
of service as Chairman of the Board in 1989-1990. He was then
employed by ICBO as a Senior Regional Manager, opening the
Indiana Regional office in Indianapolis. Snyder received numerous
awards for his years of service to the construction industry
and the building code industry. Recently, he served as a contract
instructor for the Council. The organization sends its deepest
sympathies to the family and friends of Brent Snyder. He will
be greatly missed.
