Fire Prevention Crew Spent Week Studying Safety
Evergreen Fire Rescue's Fire Prevention Division attended
the annual Colorado Chapter Educational Institute March
5-9 at the Denver Technological Center. Fire Marshal Frank
Dearborn makes the annual training mandatory for himself and
his staff: Fire Inspector Jason Neely and Community Educator
Einar Jensen.
Maintaining their qualifications and constantly improving
their knowledge of fire code nuances and other safety principles
is critical because together, the three conduct over 1,300
commercial fire inspections, and several hundred driveway
inspections, plans reviews, and fire detection and suppression
system tests annually.
Hosted by the Colorado Chapter, the institute features coursework
on the International Fire Code and International
Building Code as well as other topics of interest to code
enforcement officers ranging from communication and leadership
to reviews of new technologies and analyses of human behavior
during evacuations.
Sixty-five full-day courses were offered to the approximately
1,200 men and women who attended representing fire departments,
municipalities, county governments and special districts.
