International Code Council President Wally Bailey was a keynote
speaker at the 40th Annual Conference and Expo of the Building
Officials Institute of New Zealand (BOINZ), an ICC chapter.
He discussed the history the Council's history, and highlighted
the similarities and differences between building safety systems
in the United States and New Zealand. BOINZ is currently participating
in a major update to the New Zealand building code, the first
in 16 years. The government is also spending $3 million to
help local building departments earn a mandatory accreditation
similar to IAS Building Department Accreditation.
