| Program Adds Expertise for Building Departments  As with fire departments, police and health-care organizations, building departments play a primary role in ensuring public safety, but few have a way to demonstrate their competence, professional qualifications and ability to serve their jurisdictions. The Code Council's International Accreditation Service, which offers a professional Building Department Accreditation (BDA) Program, now includes a certified building official and building inspector on its staff. Paul Myers former Assistant Director of the Department of Buildings and Inspections for the City of Cincinnati, Ohio, and the first Code Council Board President, will be working to expand and grow the program. |

The city's adoption process and efforts of the Department of Buildings and more than 400 volunteer subcommittee members examined the I-Codes for the purpose of making specific NYC modifications. To date, the Code Council has given I-Codes to colleges and universities in Arizona, Georgia, Virginia and Washington, D.C. There are approximately 117 programs affiliated with AIA and accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board. | | Speak Out on Membership Issues Think a current benefit or service should be changed or eliminated?
