Rick
Weiland takes over the helm as ICC's CEO.
|
|
The ICC Board of Directors
promoted the association's Chief Operating Officer, Rick Weiland, to the
position of Chief Executive Officer. Weiland, who has been ICC's COO for
the past three years and has more than 20 years experience working in the
public sector and not-for-profit world, will succeed James Lee Witt.
"After a comprehensive, nationwide search that started with more than
100 applicants, Rick Weiland was our choice to lead the administration of
the International Code Council," said Board President Henry Green.
"By promoting from within we can continue to move the ICC vision forward
with very little transition at the executive level."

auction.

Money usually doesn't
buy happiness, unless you're Habitat for Humanity-Orlando. Thanks to the
overwhelming support of donors, bidders and all other participants, the
ICCF
Silent Auction held during the Annual Conference was a huge success.
Unusual items such as a custom poker chip set, golf packages, and specialty
gift baskets were donated by various groups, organizations and chapters
to benefit Habitat for Humanity-Orlando.
Americans
Favor Strong Building Codes
Nine
out of ten Americans support the adoption and enforcement of building
codes to make new homes stronger and safer during natural disasters, according
to a report
issued by the Insurance Research Council. Two-thirds support building
codes even when they would add up to six percent to the cost of a new
home.
Get
a Jump on Wildland Fires
Since 1960, more than 40,000 homes have been lost to wildland fires; a
number that is rising dramatically each year. The 2006 Wildland
Urban Interface Community Planning Tool Kit encourages at-risk communities
to take steps to protect their residents from the threat of wildfires
with protection plans, a list of at-risk communities and more.
History
Remembers Great Volunteers
Paul
Revere earned his living as a silversmith, but history remembers him for
his volunteer work. Volunteering is about going above and beyond earning
a living, and deals with what people really care passionately about. Are
you passionate about your Certification? Then ICC's Examination
Development Committee may be just the right place for you.
Spark
Interest in Fatal Campus Fires
Since
2000, student housing fires in the U.S. have claimed 78 lives, according
to the nonprofit Center for Campus Fire Safety. With more than 10 million
students heading off to college in a few weeks, you
can help protect our nation's youth by taking a moment to contact
your legislators and asking them to support designating September as "Campus
Fire Safety Month."
