Budgeting,
scheduling easier for future ICC conferences
Didn't
get to a recent Annual Conference or Codes Forum because of the
location? Planning your future travel budget and schedule for ICC
conferences will be easier from now on.
The ICC Board of Directors has approved a new Council Policy regarding
future conference site selections. To ensure that all jurisdictional
members have a chance to attend a conference that is in proximity
to their community, future site selections will rotate to different
parts of the country. Starting in 2006, conference locations will
alternate based on a site selection chart approved by the Board
of Directors and a U.S. map broken into quadrants.
ICC's 2005 conferences are already scheduled. The Codes Forum and
Initial Action Hearings will take place in Cincinnati, Ohio, on
Feb. 21Mar. 4. The Annual Conference and Final Action Hearings
will occur Sept. 25Oct. 2, in Detroit, Michigan.

IBC Special Inspection Agency
Accreditation Program available from IAS
In
response to a request from several ICC governmental members, International
Accreditation Service (IAS) has developed an accreditation program
for agencies providing the special inspections that are required
for specific construction projects under Chapter 17 of the International
Building Code (IBC).
The IAS Special Inspection Agency Accreditation Program is primarily
based on the requirements of the IBC and the applicable portions
of ISO/IEC 17020, General Requirements for the Operation of Various
Bodies Performing Inspection. The program requires special inspection
agencies to operate under a quality system that is documented in
a manual, and also requires the agency to be assessed in the field
to determine if it is competent to perform specific inspections
or types of inspections.
