the Council's President's Award from Immediate Past President
Henry Green.
David Harris, President of the National Institute of Building
Sciences (NIBS), is the recipient of the International Code
Council's President's Award presented by Immediate Past President
Henry Green. The award is based on the selection of a recipient
worthy of special recognition for service during the President's
term.
Green, a member of the NIBS Board, presented the President's
Award to Harris in honor of his "profound support for
the efforts of ICC and the building community." Green
thanked Harris for providing him with resources and guidance
during his term, making special mention of his efforts to
help federal agencies better understand the building regulatory
process.
The Code Council also named Harris and Jim Sealy, member
of the NIBS' Consultative Council, honorary ICC members. Harris
has been involved with ICC and its legacy organizations for
27 years, most recently serving on the ICC Governance Committee
and as chair of the Industry Advisory Council. Sealy, an architect
and consultant, has participated in the codes and standards
development process since the early 1970s. He served on the
drafting committees for the International Residential Code
and the International Code Council Performance Code.
Honorary Membership is awarded to those who demonstrate
outstanding service to ICC or one of the legacy model code
organizations. They must be nominated and approved by the
Honorary Membership Committee of the ICC Board of Directors
and the membership.
