fatalities: Attend the NFFF Whistlestop Tour
Stop by and show your support to reduce firefighter fatalities.
The National Fallen Firefighter Foundation (NFFF) kicked off
a nationwide whistle-stop tour to promote firefighter and
public fire safety. The "Everyone Goes Home" tour
began in San Francisco and will continue across America, wrapping
up in Boston, Mass., May 12, making 20 stops along the way.
The International Code Council has been a long time supporter
of NFFF. Each October, the ICC Fire Service Team assists with
the Annual NFFF Memorial Weekend held in Emmitsburg, Md.,
ICC also participated in two NFFF Firefighter Life Safety
Summits, which resulted in 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives,
including one on code enforcement. On average, two American
firefighters die every week in the line of duty. Many of these
deaths are preventable. The initiatives will assist the U.S.
Fire Administration to achieve their goal of reducing firefighter
fatalities by 25% in the next five years and 50% within ten
years.
In a bus wrapped with the message, "Everyone Goes Home,"
the NFFF whistle-stop tour includes six weekend events with
rallies, preparedness fairs, training opportunities, and speeches.
The weekday events will highlight local fire departments and
training activities. The bus will also make numerous spontaneous
visits to promote fire safety. The NFFF whistle-stop tour
was made possible through a grant from the Dunkin' Brands
Community Foundation,
