AGA & ICC to Develop New International Fuel Gas Code

August 1997

The American Gas Association (A.G.A.) and the International Code Council (ICC) have agreed to develop a new International Fuel Gas Code that will be available in early 1998. The partnership will ensure the development of an up-to-date code for the installation of gas equipment, appliances, piping and venting.

When the code is adopted, all references to gas installation in other ICC codes, such as the International Mechanical Code and the International Plumbing Code, will be replaced with a reference to the International Fuel Gas Code. It is estimated that the new code will be used in about 2/3 of the U.S., with a good chance of being adopted in other countries.
