On October 20, 1997, CABO joined more than 200 community leaders,
planners, code officials, and housing providers at a forum on
Innovations in Manufactured Housing: Creating New Options for
American Communities. CABO was one of ten (10) sponsors of the
forum, which was held under the auspices of HUD's National Partners
in Homeownership.
Focus On Recent Innovations
The forum consisted of a keynote address by Assistant HUD
Secretary and Federal Housing Commissioner Nicolas Retsinas,
as well as seven breakout sessions on a variety of topics. The
sessions particularly focused on ays in which recent innovations
in the design, construction, financing, and regulation of manufactured
homes make this type of housing a more competitive and compatible
option in both urban and suburban settings.
CABO presented a session on Building Codes and Manufactured
Housing.
