Hodge, Green named officers on International Code Council
Board
Frank P. Hodge, Jr., Director of Building and Fire Codes,
Town of Hilton Head Island, has been appointed vice president
of the International Code Council Board of Directors. Henry
L. Green, Executive Director, Bureau of Construction Codes,
Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth, has been
appointed secretary/treasurer.
Hodge was elected to the International Code Council Board
in 1999. Hodge is a master code professional and a certified
building official. He is chair of the South Carolina Building
Code Council, and former chair of the Standard Plumbing
Code Committee, and CABO One and Two Family Dwelling Code
Committee. He served on the Model Energy Code and Wind Load
Deemed to Comply Revision committees.
Green was elected to the International Code Council Board
in 2002 and previously served on the board from 1994 to
1998. He is chairman of the Board of Directors of the National
Institute of Building Science. Green is a recipient of the
Automatic Fire Alarm Association Man of the Year award and
the Building Industry Association of Southeast Michigan
Distinguished Service to Government award.
The International Code Council, a membership association
dedicated to building safety and fire prevention, develops
the codes used to construct residential and commercial buildings,
including homes and schools. Most U.S. cities, counties
and states that adopt codes choose the International Codes
developed by the International Code Council. The International
Code Council also provides technical and educational services
to the construction industry. The International Code Council,
which marks its first anniversary this year, is the result
of the consolidation of what were the nation's three model
code organizations: Building Officials and Code Administrators
International (BOCA), International Conference of Building
Officials (ICBO) and Southern Building Code Congress International
(SBCCI).
In May 2003, the International Code Council Board named
disaster response and crisis management expert James Lee
Witt as its chief executive officer. He has more than 25
years of leadership and experience in the field of disaster
management, including eight years as the director of the
United States Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
During his time at FEMA, he elevated mitigation and the
role that building codes play in building safer, stronger
and better communities. In addition to serving as chief
executive officer of the International Code Council, Witt
continues in his role as president of James Lee Witt Associates.
