Auction raises nearly $4,000 for Salt
Lake City charity
International
Code Council members and guests donated nearly $4,000 through
a silent auction to benefit ASSIST, a Salt Lake City nonprofit
organization, during the International Code Council Annual
Conference held in the Utah capital last month.
ASSIST provides architectural design, community planning
and development assistance to other nonprofit and community
groups. The organization also serves low income households
and people with disabilities through its emergency home
repair and accessibility design programs.
"We are thankful for the support the International
Code Council has given us," said ASSIST Director Roger
Borgenicht. "The funds raised through the silent auction
will help us achieve our goal of improving the safety and
well being of low income, elderly and disabled individuals
and families."
The International Code Council's donation will be used
to further enhance existing home repair and accessibility
design programs administered by ASSIST and to support other
community endeavors.
"The silent auction is a way for our members and conference
attendees to make a lasting, positive impact on local communities
that host our annual conference," said International
Code Council Immediate Past President Anne vonWeller, Chief
Building Official for the city of Murray, Utah. "We
are proud to partner with ASSIST to help enhance the accessibility
and life safety of Salt Lake City area residents."
The International Code Council, a membership organization
dedicated to building safety and fire prevention, develops
the codes used to construct residential and commercial buildings,
including homes and schools. Most U.S. cities, counties
and states, including the State of Utah, that adopt codes
choose the International Codes developed by the International
Code Council.
