A click puts commentary at your fingertips
Have a question about a specific section of the code? Finding
the relevant code commentary is easy when you have the International
Code Commentaries on CD.
Newly available, the 2003 I-Code Commentaries on CD are
a fast way to navigate through the 2003 Commentaries in
PDF format. Users can search text, figures and tables and
even copy and paste small excerpts from code provisions
into correspondence or reports.
"I-Code Commentaries are a key element of any code
library because they provide direct guidance on the interpretation
and application of the codes," said International Code
Council Senior Vice President of Technical Services Tom
Frost. "Putting the Commentaries on CD makes them even
more accessible and increases their utility."
I-Code Commentaries in any format are valuable resources.
They demonstrate the code, tell when and how to apply code
requirements, and provide illustrated examples. Commentaries
include the complete code text, as well as historical background
and technical information.
"Staff members who coordinate the I-Code development
process and compile the codes are the ones who write the
I-Code Commentaries," Frost said. "They know the
intent behind the words in the code; it comes directly out
of the code hearings."

The International Code Council, a membership association
dedicated to building safety and fire prevention, develops
the codes used to construct residential and commercial buildings,
including homes and schools. Most U.S. cities, counties
and states that adopt codes choose the International Codes
developed by the International Code Council.
