Board President Bailey receives OBOA International Award of Excellence

The Ontario Building Officials Association recognized Code Council Board President Wally Bailey with the Yaman Uzumeri International Award of Excellence for his contributions to the building regulatory industry.
The award, dedicated in honor of Yaman Uzumeri, recognizes an individual, corporation or association whose continued contribution and devotion to the building regulatory industry has furthered the professional excellence of the industry as a whole.
The Director of Development and Construction for the City of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Bailey was elected President of the International Code Council in September 2006. As President, one of his key initiatives was to improve public perception of code officials. He held a Raising the Profile Summit, which brought together representatives from different associations to discuss the important role code officials play in making everyday life safer and ways to challenge the current public perception code officials face.
Bailey’s endeavors such as the Summit, his international travels to speak with international code officials associations, and many other initiatives make him a worth recipient of an award whose purpose is to recognize one ‘whose continued contribution and devotion to the building regulatory industry has furthered the professional excellence of the industry as a whole’.
