Anderson, Brothers, Francis, LeydenRecognized as ICC Honorary Members
International Code Council Members awarded Honorary Memberships to four distinguished individuals for demonstrating outstanding service to the ICC or one of the association’s legacy model code organizations. Members approved the nominations of Gregori Anderson, James L. Brothers, Sam Francis and Jack Leyden during the Code Council’s 2013 Annual Conference in Atlantic City, N.J. Honorary Members have voting rights and receive all ICC Member benefits. Anderson is Director of Building Safety and Regulatory Services for Chatham County, Ga. He served two, three-year terms on the ICC Board of Directors, chairing several committees. He has more than 25 years of experience as a code official. His professional background includes training as an architect, historic preservation and construction management.Brothers, a past ICC Board President, serves on the Alabama Residential and Energy Codes Board. He was Director of the Decatur, Ala., Building Department until his retirement with more than 25 years of experience as a code official. He has served on the Legislative and Codes Advisory Council for the American Society of Interior Design, and is Past President of the North Alabama Code Officials Association and the Code Officials Association of Alabama. He is recipient of the Alabama Code Official of the Year Award, and the Code Officials Association of Alabama Distinguished Service Award.Francis is a regional director of the American Wood Council. He responds to countless requests for help with code issues and wood design standards from code officials, builders and designers. His career began performing mechanical inspections and plan reviews for the city of Dayton, Ohio. He also served as Chief Mechanical Inspector and Chief Building Inspector. He has taught for code official associations, authored numerous code-related articles and served on several ICC committees.Leyden, a former ICC Board Member, is the Rhode Island State Building Code Commissioner. He has held the positions of Structural Building Inspector, Director, Building Official, and Chief of Structures and Zoning and Alternate Building Official for the cities of Providence, Cranston and North Kingstown.
