With the construction season underway, the International
Code Council and several city of Chicago Departments launched
Building Safety Week.

Safety Week news conference. Commissioner Knight renewed
a call for Chicagoans to report unsafe buildings and to
be mindful of porch, deck and balcony conditions. Rodriguez
reminded home and building owners of permit requirements.
Other city officials addressed illegal conversions of
single family homes into illegal apartments, and clean
and safe worksites.

"Dedicated to Advancing Building
Safety" is the theme for the city of Chicago as it
launched 2006 Building Safety Week with a news conference.
During Building Safety Week, International Code Council
and Chicago Building Department staffs host an awareness
booth in the lobby of Chicago's City Hall.
