The International Code Council Board of Directors kicked off Building Safety Week by doing some construction of their own — volunteering at a Habitat for Humanity build site. The Washington, D.C., chapter of Habitat is about halfway through a 53 house development in the northeast area of the city. The Code Council Board, International Accreditation Service Board of Directors and several chapter members framed, hung drywall, installed siding, and did finishing work in several Habitat homes. The Code Council also made a $10,000 donation to the Habitat chapter to support its efforts to bring affordable, green and energy efficient homes to D.C. families in need.
