John "Buddy" Showalter, P.E. Mr. Showalter joined the American Forest & Paper Association staff in 1992, and serves as Director of Technical Media for the American Wood Council (AWC). He is a Graduate of Virginia Tech, with a B.S. in Agricultural Engineering. Responsibilities at AWC include development of design tools such as DCA 6 – Prescriptive Residential Wood Deck Construction Guide, and other technical media. He also serves as the Editorial Board Chairman for Wood Design Focus, which is published by the Forest Products Society, and serves on the Editorial Board for Structure Magazine, published jointly by NCSEA, ASCE/SEI, and CASE.
