Code Council Urges Feds to Include Green Construction Code to Design, Build New Government Buildings

Sustainable Design and Green Building Toolkit for Local Governments
EPA’s Green Permitting Project Team recently announced that their new Sustainable Design and Green Building Toolkit for Local Governments is now available. The Toolkit is intended to help communities discover and address barriers to sustainability and provides guidelines to assist in the development of local government green and sustainable building programs and initiatives. Solar Power Your Community
The U.S. Department of Energy has developed a comprehensive resource to assist local governments and stakeholders in building sustainable local solar markets. The guide introduces a range of policy and program options that have been successfully field tested in cities around the country.
Complementing this resource, the ICC’s Sustainable Building Technology Committee, which is in the process of drafting the International Green Construction Code (IGCC), will be developing new state of the art requirements for the solar industry.
U.S. Green Building Council Supports "Greening" of International Codes
USGBC said in a recently released position displaying support for codes that create "safe and hazard-free" environments and maintain "human and environmental sustainability."
