March 18, 2010 | CPSC proposes rule to interpret ‘‘public accommodation’’ in Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act. The Consumer Product Safety Commission has published a proposed interpretive rule for definition of "Public Accommodation" to the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act."

March 15, 2010 | New Green Construction Code Unveiled. The International Code Council today announced the release of Public Version 1.0 of the International Green Construction Code (IGCC) to regulate construction of new and existing commercial buildings. Jan. 22, 2010 | National Green Building Standard Subject to Update Process. In accordance with ANSI's requirements, proposals to revise the NGBS are welcomed. Developed by the National Association of Homebuilders and the International Code Council, the NGBS, also known as ICC 700-2008, provides green practices for homes, including high-rises. Change proposals will be used as initial input for the next revisions cycle of the NGBS.

Dec. 21, 2009 | First Integrated Green Construction Code Poised For 2010 Debut. Drafters of the International Code Council’s International Green Construction Code (IGCC) are nearing completion of the first-ever integrated green code for traditional and high-performance commercial buildings, set for a public release in March. Dec. 18, 2009 | 2010 Chapter Education Training Benefit. In 2010 ICC is launching a new Chapter Education Training Benefit. Each chapter in compliance with CP-10 is entitled to an educational benefit. For 2010, the Chapter Training Benefit will consist of one day of training at 50 percent off the listed price for courses and workbooks. Read more.

Dec. 17, 2009 | ICC Offers 2006 Certification and Contractor Exams in 2010. The ICC will continue offering National Certification examinations based on the 2006 International Codes throughout 2010 (entire year), via Paper-and-Pencil only. Contractor exams will continue to be available as described in the Contractor/Trades bulletins. The examinations will be offered nationwide, at minimum, on a quarterly basis. Additional sites and dates are being researched and arranged, and will be published on the ICC Certification & Testing website as soon as they are finalized. ICC Certification & Testing will not reimburse candidates for exam materials already purchased. ICC exams may be rescheduled or canceled per the policies stated in the Examination Information Bulletin. For the most up-to-date information, keep checking the ICC Certification & Testing website.

Dec. 14, 2009 | IGCC Development Committee wraps up meeting. Attendance continues to be strong as interested parties observed and participated in the development of the International Green Construction Code (IGCC) when the Sustainable Building Technology Committee (SBTC) held its fourth public meeting for the "IGCC: Safe and Sustainable by the Book" initiative to develop green construction guidelines for commercial buildings. The SBTC will hold its next drafting meeting in January as part of its national effort to engage the public and the construction industry on the first generation of a safe and sustainable building code. Hearings will be held during the summer to accept comments on the first public version of the IGCC. Dec. 14, 2009 | Pennsylvania and New Hampshire adopt 2009 I-Codes, including fire sprinkler requirements. The two states are the first in the nation to adopt fire sprinkler requirements based on the 2009 International Residential Code. Pennsylvania is updating to several 2009 I-Codes, including residential fire sprinkler requirements in the Residential Code. New Hampshire reportedly also is adopting the residential requirements for sprinklers effective in 2012.
