The College Technical Training Program at Work:
The Pennsylvania College of Technology

The Pennsylvania College of Technology (PCT), Williamsport, Penn., is one of eight colleges currently in the ICC College Technical Training Program. In 2014, the COC was implemented into the existing Carpentry and Building Construction Technology program.

PCT’s School of Construction and Design Technologies offers curriculum in the following:

  • Residential Construction Technology and Management: Building Construction Technology Concentration
  • Residential Construction Technology and Management: Architectural Technology Concentration
  • Residential Construction Technology and Management: Building Construction Technology - Masonry Concentration

Each can lead to an Associates in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree or a Bachelor of Science degree. The program at PCT expanded in 2016 to include the Codes, Specifications and Estimating curriculum.

Instructors say students see the curriculum as a tool not only to learn the codes but to enhance career opportunities in the construction industry. Penn College has a 96 percent employment rate for their graduates: the students who complete the AA degree are heavily recruited and many have signed letters of employment in most cases prior to graduation.
