  • Describe the code development process and arrangement of the IFC.
  • Identify administrative provisions in Chapter 1.
  • Identify fire department access and water supply provisions in Chapter 5 and interior finish requirements contained in Chapters 8.
  • Describe the requirements for automatic sprinkler systems, fire alarm and detection systems, and commercial cooking activities in Chapter 9.
  • Explain means of egress requirements contained in Chapter 10 and provisions for existing buildings in Chapter 11.
  • Describe some of the special occupancies regulated by the IFC in Chapters 20-36.
  • List the requirements for hazardous materials in Chapter 50, as well as the more common special hazards.

DescriptionThis seminar will introduce: The application of the IFC administrative requirements, occupancy classification, general precautions against fire, emergency planning and preparedness, fire service features, interior finish, decorative materials and furnishings, fire protection systems, means of egress, and provide an introduction to hazardous materials. Activities and discussions will further enhance participant learning.
