UST/AST Solution for States
Petroleum storage tanks are regulated by federal and state laws and many states require tank workers be licensed or certified before being allowed to install, retrofit or decommission UST and/or AST systems or components. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is requiring qualifying states (those that receive underground storage tank funds from EPA) to have UST Operator training requirements in place by August 2012 (EPA Guidelines & Rules). Successful completion of the ICC UST Operator exams fully satisfies the training requirements of the Grant Guidelines.
Whether a state wants to develop a state-customized UST/AST certification and examination program, or adopt a nationally-recognized and EPA-approved program, ICC can find a solution that best fits those needs.
The Code Council’s National UST Certification Program is a trusted, low-cost, and convenient UST/AST program that will meet the requirements of both your state and the EPA. View a list of exams currently offered.
