Glenn,
What are the average prices of those homes using copper? Is there a correlation between the cost of a home and whether it has PEX or copper water supply piping?

My guess would be that copper is still being used by the higher-end builders???

I''m in Washington State under the 2003 UPC, and in my area we are seeing probably 35% of plumbing in new houses is PEX.

I would estimate that more than 95% of the Residential water supply lines in our jurisdiction are now ran in PEX.

No air testing of PEX. See installation manual. DANGER!!!
In VA. no air testing allowed.(Cold winters) Plumbers must use hydro test. Fill system up in the morning, drain system once approved.

Some areas in Riverside County Ca. Pex is mandatory. The tracts are built on old dairies soil is very corrosive, also see methane vents in some of the houses, also quite a bit in the desert areas of So Cal.

Are any of you allowing "AIR TESTING" of PEX piping due to freezing weather?

95% of homes we are designing outside California.
0% inside California. The unions have got it omitted from the California code.

Almost completely PEX ... say 19 out of 20.
