Hi -

ICC does offer multiple versions of our National Certification exams; to make sure you're looking at the one you really want to take, visit the Exam Catalog here: https://www.iccsafe.org/certification-exam-catalog/ and look for the exam you want. There's a drop-down with the various years of exam available, and the references shown should change depending on the year you choose.

Let me know if that helps, and best of luck to you!

Hi, Larry -

There are differences between the old and new formats that may play a part in how to study for the examination.  I recommend that you first obtain a copy of the appropriate information bulletin found on our website as well as the expanded content outlines for the examination modules.  The bulletin will provide you with the list of approved references for the examination modules as well as information that will help make your testing experience successful.  The expanded content outlines will assist with providing you a list of the tasks in which you will be tested.

The bulletin and expanded content outlines can be found on our National Exam Info and Registration page found at: http://www.iccsafe.org/education-certification/certifications-and-testing/national-exam-info-registration/.  In addition to the documents, you can also access the links to register for the CBT and P&P examinations.

Do keep in mind that our examination bulletin is updated periodically so we recommend bookmarking it instead of printing it.

For additional questions regarding ICC examinations, please contact Certification and Testing at 1-888-422-7233, ext. 5524 or by email at certexam@iccsafe.org.

Hope that helps - and best of luck to you!

Michelle

Hi Michelle, I will be taking the CBO examination and had been studying for the old format 01 and 02. Is there something I need to change in my routine to properly study for the new format.

Hi, Ken -

The upcoming July 1 changes will not affect the exams based on the California Codes, so you should see no difference. The changes specifically apply to ICC's National Certification program, largely based on the International Codes.

Good luck to you-

Maybe someone can shed some light here.

I am scheduled to take the Ca. Commercial Building exam on July 1 and have been studying the past few months the material I purchased earlier in the year. I have been receiving erratas and supplements during this time and have been inserting/replacing them as they come but I also received one for July 1, 2015 which is when some new changes for the code go into effect according to an email from ICC.

My question is, will I be tested on the materials updated to July 1 or on the new material going into the reference on July 1? Kind of ironic I picked the day of the change for my test.

Any insight or experience with this would be very appreciated.

Thanks!

Ken
