I own and operate a Retreat Center in Alaska with 5 cabins and a lodge.  Although local fire codes are not strictly enforced, I want to ascertain the new construction and remolding meets or exceeds ICC specifications.  I appreciate this forum and especially the wonderful archives.   Jim Sagerser

Might have been a participant in another life but have not been active for quite some time.  While I do not delve into code aspects too much anymore from a professional basis, I always seem to have questions on a personal front.

My main reason for posting under this heading now, it appears the actual questions are being truncated when I pull up a topic to read.  All the questions appear to be displayed, but the first posts all seem to be an answer to some unknown concern.  Am I missing something...a setting, or whatever, that causes this?  I want to ask a question but trying to be diligent about researching past posts to see if the question has been asked already.

I am glad I found this forum to learn and unederstand the International codes. I do not know if you have any help in understanding the Code of Conduct of Auditees and Auditors.

Thanks for having me as a memeber.

Thought I say hi. I just joined ICC a week ago, and decided to invest in trying to get my structural steel and bolting special inspector certs. I think I have a lot of studying ahead of me.

I like to see if anyone has any suggestions on how to study for the"structural steel and bolting special inspector" certification. I have a CWI certification. So I am use to reading codes.

Also if someone had any tips on some books. I already bought all the reference books for it. I know there several guides out there. I just thought mabye someone could tell me which books might actually help. And which books are a bust.

Hope to learn some from the more advanced ICC members. And mabye be able to put some input in as well.

Matt

Billy,

Welcome to the forum.

With the wealth of natural gas in this country; we are going to see a lot of growth in the industry; when the right people get elected to office.  I believe it's going to be the next major source of energy; especially for the automobile industry.

Hello Friends, I;m so glad I became a member of ICC .I retired from the Scottsboro Water,Sewer and Gas Bd. (WSG) .in 2007 after spending a 41 year stint with the Board. I was Gas Supt. and all of my duties were complying with Regulations for The DOT , Alabama PSC office of Gas Pipeline Safety , such as ,annual reports,EIA annual rports, Complying with Natural Gas Qualification Programs , Inforcing Local IFGC code.

I love the Natural Gas Industry and really miss it since I retired in 1/31/2007. I wished I could get back in it son way form or fashion . I would really enjoy being a CODE Inspector. Thanks for listening to me My friends.

Welcome to the new ICC forum.

Although it is new; the old archives with thousands of posts from the former bulletin board have been attached.  You will find a wealth of information here on every subject.

After you register; you can use a Nickname (user name) rather than your real name by; placing your mouse pointer over "User Tools" (top right hand side) and clicking on "Edit Profile".  Put the User Name that you want on your posts in the box that says Nickname.

You may ask code questions; and/or share your knowledge of the codes with others here.

Enjoy the forum,

Uncle Bob

Mike,

This is my first reply or post. I have a similar history in the trades, carpenters union, contracting and into code complince with my construction. I have several certs., regarding the code books...my code access is now on line through MADCAD. It's a unique access to the moving target, which is the codes.
