DESCRIPTION:Historic changes to the 2021 International Building Code allow for construction of tall mass timber buildings with larger heights and areas than is currently permitted in Types III\, IV\, and V construction. This presentation provides an overview of fire safety provisions for new construction Types IV-A\, IV-B\, and IV-C. Provisions covered include sealants at abutting edges and intersections and redundant water supply systems. New criteria for concealed spaces for existing Type IV Heavy Timber construction will also be discussed.
