Modernizing Chicago’s Construction Codes: What’s New & What’s Next
October 16, 2019 @ 11:30 am - 2:00 pm
The Chicago Department of Buildings, with help from industry experts, passed the 2019 code modernization ordinance – the first comprehensive revision to the building code in 70 years. Join Chicago Building Congress for the Oct. 16 luncheon to learn what key changes were made to the International Building Code to adapt it for use in Chicago, and how this will improve the industry. Expert panelists are those instrumental in the development of the updated codes including Building Planning, Enclosure and Materials, Existing Buildings, Fire Protection & Life Safety, and Structural. While this program is not technical in nature, you’ll hear first-hand how panelists discuss the next step: implementing the codes into practice.
