DESCRIPTION:The City of Alexandria invites the public to celebrate Building Safety Month during the month of May with a Kick-Off event on May 5\, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.\, at City Hall – Market Square located at 301 King Street. Building Safety Month is a month-long campaign to raise awareness of the continuous efforts in building safety and the work of our building safety professionals.    \nThis year’s event\, hosted by the Department of Code Administration\, will include a proclamation signing by Mayor Justin Wilson\, remarks by City Manager James Parajon\, and keynote speaker International Code Council President Cindy Davis\, followed by a free lunch and raffle and exhibits from city departments and the local building community.      \nThe event will also feature two\, 1 – HOUR FREE TRAINING SESSIONS:\n9: 00 a.m. – Deck Safety Inspections by Simpson Strong-Tie\n10:00 a.m. – Fire Rated Assemblies and Fire Stopping Method \nPlease get in touch with Penny.Gausman@alexandriava.gov to register for in-person training.
