SUMMARY:2021 IBC Essentials (Online Live)
DESCRIPTION:This class focuses on the basic concepts of the 2021 International Building Code® (IBC®). These concepts provide a basis for the correct utilization of the code. A clear understanding of the identified requirements allows the code user to apply the IBC in specific situations and helps to build an understanding of the intent of the code when asked to make a judgment on code compliance. This class will also help the code user to correctly locate code requirements. It will also provide a basis for the correct use and application of the code as well as to begin to develop a procedure for applying them. It will address the organization of the code and how it relates to the IBC family of International Codes (I-Codes). \nThe following publication is included with this course:\n2021 International Building Code® Essentials (IBC®) \n9:00 a.m. CT

SUMMARY:When Disaster Strikes (Online Live CLA)
DESCRIPTION:All too often before and after a disaster\, an affected community is left on its own to struggle with preparing to respond to the event and then assessing and dealing with its damage. When assessments are not conducted quickly\, a community’s residents will reoccupy potentially unsafe structures. Small scale localized events can often be handled by local building departments. However\, in a large scale and/or large regional disaster\, local building departments are unable to meet the demand and often unable to provide these valuable assessments. The ICC Disaster Response Inspector Program is aimed at training and certifying qualified professionals to assist with performing Post-Disaster Building Safety Evaluations. It also discusses the NIMS credentialing process whereby properly trained and qualified Post-Disaster Building Safety Evaluators can be prequalified and rostered. By properly training and pre-qualifying a pool of individuals building officials are better able to jump start recovery.. \nThe following publications are included to ensure success in the course:\n• Included – WDS Field Manual\n• Included – ATC 45\n• Included – ATC 20 \nPrice: $299\nMember Price: $235 \n9:00 a.m. CT

SUMMARY:Inspector Skills (Online Live)
DESCRIPTION:This class addresses the necessary soft skills for success as an inspector—those non-technical traits and behaviors that enhance an inspector’s ability to interact with others and to successfully carry out their job duties. These include people skills such as effective communication\, diplomacy and customer service\, but also include skills for problem solving\, professionalism\, integrity\, and time management. In addition to a solid understanding of the technical provisions of the codes\, developing appropriate soft skills are essential in pursuing the goal of safe\, healthy and durable buildings for the community. Developed specifically for construction inspectors in all disciplines\, the topics covered are equally important to all employees of public service agencies including permit technicians\, plan reviewers\, managers\, building officials and fire code officials. The information is also beneficial for developing policies and procedures to promote consistent and fair inspection practices while improving communications and public relations. \nThe following publications are included to ensure success in the course:\n• PDF Download Included – Inspector Skills \nPrice: $198\nMember Price: $165 \n9:00 a.m. CT
