SUMMARY:Real World Examples to Provide Fire Rated Assemblies Using Approved Methods
DESCRIPTION:The presentation will cover basic examples for providing fire rated assemblies such as walls\, columns\, beams and floors/roofs\, for new building construction. The examples are for demonstrating compliance with the fire resistance requirements of the 2018 International Building Code. Course material presented will cover using code recognized technical resources and methods to document compliance. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES: \nParticipants will be given instruction on the use of the approved methods recognized in Chapter 7 of the IBC for meeting the required fire resistances of the building elements.\nParticipants will gain a working knowledge of the technical resources available to document expected fire resistance of building elements.\nParticipants will be presented real world examples to determine the fire resistance requirements for key building elements including the structural frame\, floors\, roofs and exterior walls using the approved methods. \nRegister here. \n11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. PT

SUMMARY:Empowering Regulators through Risk-based Building Classification Guideline
DESCRIPTION:Agenda:\nJoin us for a free\, informative webinar about the recently-released International Building Quality Center (IBQC) resource\, the Risk-Based Building Classification and Inspection Guideline. The Guideline serves as an important tool to help regulators around the world to consider the different risk profiles of buildings and link that to inspection requirements. The Guideline can help jurisdictions to develop ‘right-sized’ regulation and inspection protocols\, which may be especially useful when regulatory capacity is limited or as new building regulations and enforcement infrastructure are being developed. The Guideline is aligned with the building classifications found in many existing building regulatory regimes\, including the International Codes\, but presented in a code-agnostic framework so that they can be used by jurisdictions around the world regardless of which codes or regulations are in place or under development. \nThis webinar will explore the use of the Guideline from primarily a North American point of view\, but will include exploration of their use within a performance-based regulation like the revised version of the ICC Performance Code (currently under development). Presenters include:\nProfessor (Adj) Kim Lovegrove MSE\, RML\, Australia\, Chair IBQC\, Chair of the IBQC Risk-Based Building Classification and Inspection Guidelines committee\, past senior international consultant to the World Bank\nMatt Farrell\, President of the Alliance of Canadian Building Officials Associations (ACBOA)\, Member of the IBQC Risk-Based Building Classification and Inspection Guidelines committee\nBeth Tubbs\, Chief Fire Protection Engineer for the International Code Council (ICC)\, Staff Secretariat for the development of the new ICC Performance Code\nACBOA affiliates are eligible to earn CPDs for attending the live webinar. We encourage all attendees to download the Guideline prior to the webinar using the link provided above. \nRegister here. \n3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. CT
