When Disaster Strikes – Evaluator is one of few recognized by FEMA and is identified within the NIMS Post-Disaster Building Safety Evaluator typing document as required training. \nThis training session reviews the role of the Post-Disaster Building Safety Evaluator and performing Post-disaster Building Safety Evaluations. This training then provides refresher training on awareness of operational environments and hazards. This training concludes by providing review and practice examples on performing Post-disaster Building Safety Evaluations.

SUMMARY:Designing Mass Timber Construction for Blast Loading
DESCRIPTION:There has been a notable expansion of the use of mass timber construction in North America in recent years. Sustainability and aesthetics are key drivers for mass timber construction\, and the robustness of panelized products like cross-laminated timber (CLT) opens new possibilities in protective construction. To better understand mass timber’s performance under blast loading\, a series of blast tests involving various types of mass timber have been performed. This presentation describes the current state of the science related to designing mass timber construction for blast loading.

SUMMARY:Design of Post-Tensioned One-Way Slabs and Beams of Long Span Garages
DESCRIPTION:Long span garages are very common across the United States and are typically designed using relatively thin post-tensioned one-way slabs that are supported by post-tensioned beams and girders. The beams will often span in the 60-foot range and will typically require no camber due to proper use of post-tensioning. The webinar will highlight the design steps of post-tensioned one-way slabs and beams that are typical for long span garages while addressing the relevant code sections. Typical details that are associated with these types of structures will also be shown in conjunction with construction photographs.
