SUMMARY:Public Comment Period - 2030 International Energy Conservation Code®
DESCRIPTION:The ICC Board has established a new framework for developing the 2030 International Energy Conservation Code® (IECC®) that moves its content into two documents\, the IECC and IECC Expanded. This split ensures that ICC continues to develop energy codes that meet the varied needs of jurisdictions in the U.S. and around the globe. \nThe intent of the IECC is to establish minimum requirements for the energy-efficient design and construction of buildings\, focused on initial construction costs and the operational energy performance of the building. \nThe intent of the IECC Expanded (IECCX) is to provide additive requirements that provide market-driven\, enforceable requirements that achieve a reasonable level of energy efficiency that is safe\, technologically feasible\, and life cycle cost effective\, considering economic feasibility\, including potential costs and savings for consumers and building owners\, and return on investment. \nThe IECC Expanded may include optional or mandatory provisions incorporating additional energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction resources and provisions that lead to achievement of zero energy buildings. The IECC Expanded will provide reasonable compliance options for all energy sources in common use\, while allowing requirements to reflect evolving technologies and practices. \nTo view the proposed 2030 IECC/IRC Chapter 11/IECC Expanded (IECCX) Scope and Intent draft document\, click here. \nHow to Submit Public Comments \nWe welcome your comments on the proposed 2030 IECC/IRC Chapter 11/IECC Expanded (IECCX) Scope and Intent draft document. Please submit your comments through this form by 11:59 pm Pacific Time on February 15\, 2026.

SUMMARY:Inspector Skills (Online Live)
DESCRIPTION:This class addresses the necessary soft skills for success as an inspector—those non-technical traits and behaviors that enhance an inspector’s ability to interact with others and to successfully carry out their job duties. These include people skills such as effective communication\, diplomacy and customer service\, but also include skills for problem solving\, professionalism\, integrity\, and time management. In addition to a solid understanding of the technical provisions of the codes\, developing appropriate soft skills are essential in pursuing the goal of safe\, healthy and durable buildings for the community. Developed specifically for construction inspectors in all disciplines\, the topics covered are equally important to all employees of public service agencies including permit technicians\, plan reviewers\, managers\, building officials and fire code officials. The information is also beneficial for developing policies and procedures to promote consistent and fair inspection practices while improving communications and public relations.

SUMMARY:Assisted Toileting and Bathing option in the IBC and ICC A117.1 (Learn Live)
DESCRIPTION:This current accessibility requirements as based on unassisted use and access to facilities. There is concern that as people age\, they may no longer have the strength or stability to toilet and bath without assistance. This is the most prevalent in assisted living facilities\, nursing homes and rehabilitation hospitals. This presentation will review the study that looked at assisted transfer from the viewpoint of both residents and care givers. We will also review the options for assisted toileting and bathing developed for the International Building Code and ICC A117.1 Accessibility standard. Families out for an event or traveling together may have members that need assistance in toileting. We will also discuss the options for family/companion toilet rooms and the new criteria for adult changing stations. How these criteria will meet or exceed federal requirements will also be discussed.

SUMMARY:Tornado Load Provisions of ASCE 7-22
DESCRIPTION:ASCE 7-22 is adopted by the 2024 IBC\, which will be published later this year. The changes from ASCE 7-16 to ASCE 7-22 are so numerous and so substantive that learning about them needs to start now. The chapter on flood loads is the only chapter that has escaped any change. There are huge changes in snow load\, ice load\, and tsunami load provisions. There is a whole new chapter (32) on tornado loads. Risk Category III or IV structures located in the tornado-prone region shown in a figure are required to be designed and constructed to resist the greater of the tornado loads determined in accordance with Chapter 32 or the wind loads determined in accordance with Chapters 26 through 31. The changes in Chapters 11-23 on earthquake loads and Chapters 26-31 on wind loads are many and many of the seismic changes mark significant departures from past practice. ASCE 7-22 load combinations and importance factors are also quite different because of changes in the loads chapters.

SUMMARY:2024 ISPSC Design\, Installation and Inspection Principles (Online Live)
DESCRIPTION:This course will provide an overview of the key information in the 2024 International Swimming Pool & Spa Code (ISPSC) as well as the technical information recommended for plan review and field inspections for Residential Swimming Pools and Spas/Hot Tubs for new construction and remodeling. Learners will explore the compliance of standard requirements for pool and spa equipment design\, installation\, functionality\, sanitation\, and disposal. The course will Identify the safety hazards that are often faced in the profession and how to avoid them and will provide detailed instructions on how to design a safe hydraulic system and identify the required documentation that must be submitted to a building department in order to obtain a pool permit and will also offer guidelines about how to recognize a safe hydraulic design as well as the required data and documentation that must be submitted in order to approve a residential pool permit. Detailed instructions are provided on how to design a safe\, hydraulic system and identify the required documentation that must be submitted to a building department in order to obtain a pool permit. This part will also indicate to Building Officials how to recognize a safe hydraulic design and the information that should be supplied in order to approve a commercial pool permit.
