SUMMARY:Public Comment Period - 2030 International Energy Conservation Code®
DESCRIPTION:The ICC Board has established a new framework for developing the 2030 International Energy Conservation Code® (IECC®) that moves its content into two documents\, the IECC and IECC Expanded. This split ensures that ICC continues to develop energy codes that meet the varied needs of jurisdictions in the U.S. and around the globe. \nThe intent of the IECC is to establish minimum requirements for the energy-efficient design and construction of buildings\, focused on initial construction costs and the operational energy performance of the building. \nThe intent of the IECC Expanded (IECCX) is to provide additive requirements that provide market-driven\, enforceable requirements that achieve a reasonable level of energy efficiency that is safe\, technologically feasible\, and life cycle cost effective\, considering economic feasibility\, including potential costs and savings for consumers and building owners\, and return on investment. \nThe IECC Expanded may include optional or mandatory provisions incorporating additional energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction resources and provisions that lead to achievement of zero energy buildings. The IECC Expanded will provide reasonable compliance options for all energy sources in common use\, while allowing requirements to reflect evolving technologies and practices. \nTo view the proposed 2030 IECC/IRC Chapter 11/IECC Expanded (IECCX) Scope and Intent draft document\, click here. \nHow to Submit Public Comments \nWe welcome your comments on the proposed 2030 IECC/IRC Chapter 11/IECC Expanded (IECCX) Scope and Intent draft document. Please submit your comments through this form by 11:59 pm Pacific Time on February 15\, 2026.

SUMMARY:Typical Repair Methods of Post-Tensioning Strands
DESCRIPTION:There is a myth that if a post-tensioning strand is broken\, it has the potential to fly out of the building\, create havoc and destruction as it soars over state lines and are almost impossible to repair. As most myths are\, this one is completely wrong. The majority of post-tensioned buildings will have a strand or two break during their lifetime and that rarely creates a financial or a performance issue. The webinar will cover the typical repair options and numerical solutions that are available to structural engineers when a post-tensioning strands is damaged. Construction photographs\, inspection reports and real building examples will highlight the various options that can and have been successfully used.

SUMMARY:2024 IBC Significant Structural Changes and ASCE 7-22 (Live Online)
DESCRIPTION:This full-day seminar reviews and analyzes selected significant structural changes from the 2021 to the 2024 edition of the International Building Code (IBC). The program identifies the specific code changes that have occurred along with the reasoning behind the changes. Topics include changes to provisions for walls (Chapter 14)\, roofs (Chapter 15)\, structural design (Chapter 16)\, special inspections (Chapter 17)\, soils/foundations (Chapter 18) and materials including concrete\, masonry\, steel\, wood and glass (Chapters 19-24). Updated provisions for temporary structures (Chapter 31) will be discussed. Changes to the IBC-referenced 2022 ASCE/SEI 7 Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures (ASCE 7-22) will also be presented.
